We cook forward by looking back.

Sankofa is an invitation to retrieve what is valuable from the past and carry it into the future. At our table, that idea becomes dinner.

Fictional executive chef Amara Cole

Chef Amara Cole

Raised between Washington and Kingston, our fictional chef built her cooking around the recipes, rituals, and improvisations of Black kitchens. Her food is precise without losing its soul: smoke, acid, deep spice, and produce at its peak.

The restaurant is imagined as a Black-owned, women-led gathering place where heritage is living, hospitality is generous, and the next generation has room to lead.

Built with community.

Our demo sourcing program prioritizes regional farms, Black growers, and independent producers. A fictional paid-stage program supports emerging cooks with mentorship, food-safety training, and a clear path to advancement.
